A few habits make a 40 sq ft unit feel twice as useful — and stop you opening twelve boxes for a kettle.
Heavy at the bottom, light on top
Books and tools first. Cushions and duvets last. Leave a walkway.
Protect furniture
Disassemble where you can. Wrap mattresses. Stand sofas on end if the unit allows.
Don’t store the wrong things
No food, fuel, paint, gas bottles, or anything illegal or perishable.
Use the height
Units stack to roughly 8ft. Uniform boxes stack tighter than mixed bags.
Keep a ‘first night’ box last
Kettle, mugs, bedding, chargers, and a change of clothes at the front.
